5 Things to Do in Port Campbell

Port Campbell is a seaside town located on the scenic Great Ocean Road, Victoria. It is made up of steep, rocky cliffs, which give the area scenery that is both stunning and mysterious. At the bottom of many of these cliffs, tucked within the base, are immaculate sandy white beaches.

Port Campbell accommodation is varied, giving you many choices from villas to taking up residence in a cute bed and breakfast. Even camping out under the stars is an option, but if you prefer a place where bed linen is provided you may want to check out the serviced apartments instead.

Great Ocean Road
Port Campbell is just a short drive away from some of the best attractions on the Great Ocean Road, so it is the perfect base to do your sightseeing without having to stay on the road for hours at a time. The most famous destination on the Great Ocean Road is the Twelve Apostles, and this is just a stone’s throw from Port Campbell. Also nearby you will find Gibsons Steps, Loch Ard Gorge and the rocky platform of London Bridge.

Discovery Walk
Right within the town centre is Port Campbell Bay, which is an inlet of water that is surrounded by the Port Campbell National Park. For the fit and active there is a fantastic Discovery Walk that gives amazing views across this bay and of the town itself. You can drive to the Town Lookout and begin your walk there, or for those that are after more of a challenge the walk can be accessed by the steps on the beach at Port Campbell Bay.

Scenery By Air
Don’t feel like driving to the Twelve Apostles or other sights along the Great Ocean Road? Take a helicopter tour instead! Alternatively, you can catch a 4-seat Cessna from Warrnambool Airport to take in the sights from above. Not only will you see the great attractions the Great Ocean Road is known for, but you may even get to spot whales off the coast as well.

Water Sports
As this is a town located on the water, one of the best things to do while here is to get into your bathing suit and try out some of the water activities! There are scuba diving tours and snorkeling tours, or if you prefer, you could simply go for a leisurely swim in one of the great beaches of Port Campbell. If you love the water but don’t want to get yourself wet, head down to the foreshore at Port Campbell Bay for a stroll along the beach or sit in one of the many cafes while you watch other’s partake in the sun and sand.

Wine Tasting
Port Campbell is one of those rare destinations where you can be swimming at the beach one day, and exploring vineyards the next. With wineries located within a 5-minute drive from Port Campbell, you can indulge in some wine, beer or spirit tasting while also testing some of the fresh homemade cakes and desserts. All vineyards offer something to tourists, such as a great restaurant, quaint accommodation or live music, so they are all great to visit on your Port Campbell holiday.
